Chris has a decade of experience working in Geomechanics at companies including Senergy and LR.
Having spent most of that time working alongside leading industry experts he has developed a wide ranging portfolio of skills.
Alongside his work in Geomechanics projects, Chris has spent a number of years working alongside LR's software team to develop a suite of Geomechanics tools in IP™, including software for sand failure analysis and wellbore stability.
Chris formed Mercat Energy in January 2017.
Dave Reed
Director & Principal Consultant
Dave is an experienced engineer, project manager, manager and company director with more than thirty-five years of well operations, project management and field development experience in the oil and gas sector, in the UK and internationally.
Dave was a founder director and former MD of the legacy Senergy organisation, a global diversified energy service organisation.
Dave joined Mercat Energy in 2018.
Colin McPhee
Director & Principal Consultant
Colin has almost 40 years’ experience in petrophysics, core analysis, geomechanics, formation damage and sand management.
Until he (semi) retired in late 2015, Colin was Global Head of Rock Properties with LR Senergy and previously worked for Helix-RDS, Edinburgh Petroleum Services, Heriot Watt University and Wimpey Laboratories. During this time Colin gained a lot of practical and pragmatic experience by doing and managing projects across the world, and has become recognised as a world expert on reservoir rock properties and core testing and interpretation for static, dynamic and geomechanical reservoir models.
Colin is the author or co-author of over 20 technical papers and co-author of the “Core Analysis: Best Practice” textbook. He has presented over 100 in-house and public training courses on core analysis, geomechanics and sand management to about 1500 operator and service company professionals throughout the world.
A regular presenter at industry conferences and workshops, Colin has also been actively involved in the technical committees for the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) advanced workshops. He was a SPE Distinguished Lecturer for season 2010/11, SPE North Sea Section Regional Formation Evaluation Award winner for 2016, and former Technical Editor for SPE Formation Evaluation.
Colin joined Mercat Energy in 2018.

RockMohr Ltd is an independent geomechanics consultancy founded by Lynne Harrower in 2018. Lynne brings over 25 years experience in Geomechanics, including pore pressure prediction, stress analysis, wellbore stability modelling, sand failure modelling and sand control design.
Mercat and RockMohr have a collaborative working relationship, reuniting a team that have worked together for over 20 years.
Indar Ltd is an independent core analysis consultancy founded by Izaskun Zubizarreta in 2020. Iza brings over 20 years experience in Core Analysis, including design, management and interpretation of coring, RCA and SCAL studies, core based saturation height modelling and core analysis training and workshops.
Iza is a co-author of the book “Core Analysis: Best Practice” along with Colin McPhee of Mercat Energy.
